Government of Kerala orders stoppage of construction! December 3, 2009Posted by pullichira in Uncategorized.
The Government of Kerala was pleased to consider the Representation submitted by the Pullichira Edavaka Samrakshana Samithy against the unlawful construction started by the Parish Priest of Pullichira. The Government has directed the Secretary, Mayyanad Grama Panchayat to take urgent steps to stop the construction vide its Order No: 67618/RA3/09/LSGD dated 02-12-2009. The Order was issued by the Secretary to Government, Local Self Government Department, Government of Kerala. The Secretary, Mayyanad Grama Panchayat is directed to file reply to the averments made in the Petition filed by the Samithy. He is also directed to file detailed Report after collecting the required information from concerned Departments to ascertain violation of the Coastal Regulation Zone Notification.
The Parish Priest was so adamant in continuing the unlawful construction by engaging workers day and night to overcome any legal obstructions! The Bishop of Kollam stood as a silent spectator to the illegalities commited by the Parish Priest. We had made several requests to stop the illegal construction which fell in deaf ears.
The Parish Priest is dragging matters to Courts according to his whims and fancies. We request the Bishop of Kollam to check the source of legal expenses spent by the Parish Priest. We request that the Bishop of Kollam may atleast restrain the Parish Priest from spending money from the funds of the Parish towards his legal expenses. We hope that the Bishop will act appropriately!
