Freedom of expression being denied April 18, 2010Posted by Boris Paul in Uncategorized.
The Kottiyam Police Station Sub Inspector has made late night visits to the residences of members of the Pullichira Edavaka Samrakshana Samithy and threatened not to circulate the Pamphlet published by the Samithy. The Samithy has made written Complaints to the Superintendent of Police, Kollam and the Director General of Police, Kollam. The SP had forwarded the Complaint to the Dy SP, Kollam for enquiry. The Dy SP, Kollam has permitted circulation of the Pamphlet. The Samithy has submitted an application under the Right to Information Act to the Public Information Officer at Kottiyam Police Station. This is intended to reveal the person who is behind such unlawful acts. Preventing the circulation of a Pamphlet officially published by a Registered Society is nothing but curtailment of freedom of expression and speech guaranteed by the Constitution of India.
